Someone made the mistake of putting me in front of a mic for an hour at #sxsw and Austin survived. I will never forget it. #regram @orangemagazine
somewhere where I won’t get people judging and being like “#firstworldproblems” or accusing me for somehow being ungrateful for life. this is a simple observation of something that happens to all of us, and I have to say:
after 21, birthdays fucking suck.
why do I need to be responsible to create an occasion and festive atmosphere in order for other people to have an acceptably good time because I happened to be born that day? and if I don’t feel like - or simply don’t have the fucking time to do laundry, let alone plan a soiree - planning a party, it’s become a sad thing? you could say “well, what makes you think others think it’s sad?” well, because even though I’m making an argument about it, I think it’s fucking sad.
sad that if I don’t create an occasion to celebrate my existence, the people who I would hope to celebrate it with can’t find it within their own schedules to make time to do so without me having to wrangle cats. but then again, “Kristin’s always been the planner!”
plus getting older is the worst because the space between real life and my expectations of my life at a particular age are getting further and further apart.
oh and I don’t really have a sure chance at “birthday sex” so that really rounds out the grand equation of things.
k it was great visiting with you Tumblr now I’ll go take another 16 month hiatus and see you when I’m 28 and still renting.
